Kavinder slams Farooq Abdullah for equating India with Bangladesh
12/9/2024 10:31:51 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 9: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta strongly criticized National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah for his controversial remarks equating India with Bangladesh. He lambasted NC leader for his unwarranted comparison, stating that such remarks show a lack of understanding of India's secular fabric and democratic ethos.
In a statement issued here today, Kavinder Gupta pointed out that India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emerged as a beacon of democracy where people of all religions, including minorities, enjoy unparalleled freedom and rights. "Farooq Abdullah's statement is not only irresponsible but also highlights a misplaced narrative. As an Indian Muslim, if he feels aligned with Bangladesh, perhaps he should consider moving there," he said.
Kavinder further emphasized the stark contrast between India and countries like Bangladesh or Pakistan. "In India, citizens, regardless of their faith, have the constitutional right to speak openly, even against the government. This is a hallmark of our robust democracy. Can such liberties be imagined in Bangladesh or Pakistan, where dissent is often met with brutal suppression?" he questioned.
The former deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the Modi Government's swift and decisive action against any distressing incidents within the country. "Whenever unfortunate events occur, the Modi Government acts promptly to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law. However, in Bangladesh, the government often turns a blind eye to violence perpetrated against minorities, particularly Hindus, or worse, is complicit in such acts of persecution," he asserted.
The senior BJP leader condemned the mistreatment of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, calling on international communities to take note of the human rights violations in the neighboring country. He reaffirmed India's commitment to ensuring justice and equal treatment for all its citizens, contrasting it with the grim reality faced by minorities in Bangladesh.
Kavinder asked leaders like Farooq Abdullah to recognize the unparalleled freedoms and opportunities that India offers to its citizens and to refrain from making baseless statements that tarnish the country's image.
