AIIMS Jammu hosts 9th RIPSSCON 2024

JAMMU, Dec 9: The Department of Pediatric Surgery at AIIMS Jammu successfully organized the 9th Annual Conference of Research and Innovation in Pediatric Surgery (RIPSSCON) 2024 on December 6-7, marking the first such event in the Jammu & Kashmir region.
Held under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, the conference welcomed renowned pediatric surgeons, researchers, and policymakers nationwide. The event, organized under the aegis of the Research and Innovation in Pediatric Surgery Society, aimed to improve surgical outcomes for children through knowledge exchange and innovation.
The two-day program featured keynote addresses, orations, panel discussions, workshops, and research presentations. Prof. Gupta delivered a keynote on "Surgeons as Leaders: Navigating Administrative Challenges," emphasizing the broader role of surgeons in healthcare leadership.

Prestigious Orations:
Amita Sen RIPSS Oration: Delivered by Dr. H.P.S. Miglani, President-elect of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons.
BHU Alumni RIPSS Oration: Delivered by Prof. (Dr.) A.N. Gangopadhyay.
Upadhaya Gupta RIPSS Oration: Delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Anurag Krishna.
Lifetime Achievement Awards: Presented to Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Gupta, Prof. (Dr.) H.L. Goswamy, Prof. (Dr.) Yogeshwar Mengi, and Prof. (Dr.) Nasib C. Digra for their extraordinary contributions to pediatric surgery.
The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Sumitra Kumar Biswas, President of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, and Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) Shilpa Sharma from AIIMS New Delhi, commended AIIMS Jammu for hosting a conference of such caliber.
RIPSS Fellowship 2024 awards were conferred on 10 outstanding pediatric surgeons, including Dr. Vijay Kumar Kundal (HOD), Dr. Lucky Gupta, and Dr. Shilpa Sharma, in recognition of their contributions to the field.
Prof. Gupta emphasized that AIIMS Jammu is committed to advancing clinical care and research in pediatric surgery and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration. The event concluded with participants praising its scientific depth and its impact on enhancing pediatric healthcare.
