DC chairs RTA meeting to enhance public transport in Poonch

POONCH, Dec 9: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today convened a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). The meeting focused on discussing various matters related to public transport in the district and sanctioning route permits.
During the session, the Deputy Commissioner, who serves as the Chairman of the RTA, along with other members, meticulously reviewed applications for road permits. A total of 46 applications for Tata Magic vehicles were received, of which 38 were approved. Additionally, all 6 applications for mini buses were sanctioned, as well as all 8 applications for auto rickshaws were also sanctioned.
Furthermore, 12 out of 15 applications for changes and extensions of routes were approved. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of conducting feasibility studies for the operation of mini buses on the newly approved routes, instructing the concerned authorities to collaborate with the District Transport Inspector (DTI) for comprehensive reports. He also directed that new permits for bus services should commence from the new bus stand near SK Bridge. Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner urged the Traffic Department to ensure proper traffic regulation and take necessary action against violators, underscoring the commitment to maintaining order on the roads.
