Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 9: The Congress high command has reportedly sought an explanation from the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Tariq Hamid Karra, for removing ten district presidents in Kashmir and dissolving the party units.
A source told Early Times that the party high command has taken a serious note of Karra’s unilateral decision.
“There is a process to change the district presidents, it has to be done by consulting the ground cadre and then after there is the acceptance of a particular leader as the district president, then the names have to be sent to the high command and then wait for the approval."
“However, Karra has done everything on his own. Without consultation and without proper process, he has bypassed all the internal party laws,” the source said, adding, "He has to explain his decision. The Congress is a national party and no one irrespective of his position can take any unilateral decision."
Karra had also constituted a fact-finding committee to ascertain the reasons behind the poor performance of the Congress Party, but the two m

mbers of the panel, according to the sources, were hand in glove with the opposition parties to ensure the defeat of the Congress candidates. “A delegation of senior leaders went to New Delhi last month. They met party leaders in the national capital and apprised them about the credentials of the committee members,” said a source.
He said that the party high command has also taken a serious note of Karra constituting a “fact finding committee” without consulting the central leadership.
“The new JKPCC Chief is acting as a dictator. The Congress offices in Jammu and Srinagar have remained deserted since the day election results have been announced. Workers are not visiting the party offices as they are not being heard,” said a source.
He said that the senior leaders who visited New Delhi were assured by the party’s central leadership that action will be taken and no one will be allowed to become a “dictator” in the party.
It may be recalled that Tariq Hameed Karra was appointed a JKPCC Chief in August this year soon after the assembly elections were announced in the Union Territory.
