| DEO for strict compliance of code of conduct | | | Earlyn Times Report Udhampur, Apr 4- To discuss issues relating to the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, in which Udhampur Parliamentary constituency of the State which is going to polls on April 23, the District Election Officer (DEO), Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria convened a meeting of the representatives of different political parties, here on Saturday. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Surinder Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner, N.I. Parae and Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Rajesh Sharma also attended the meeting. The DEO gave a detailed account of various issues pertaining to the conduct of Lok Sabha elections like observance of Model Code of Conduct, status of electoral rolls, EPICs, polling stations, list of booth level officers (BLOs) etc. to the representatives of political parties. They were advised to go through the guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI) carefully and ensure strict compliance of the instructions in respect of holding of meetings, processions and adherence to the restrictions on the polling day. Regarding the status of EPICs, the DEO disclosed that the EPICs have been distributed to the electors through the concerned BLOs and added that some alternate documents have also been recommended by the ECI to be produced in place of EPICs for verification of the identity of the voter on poll day. The list of these alternate documents is being supplied to the political parties. Referring to the demand of production of list of polling stations and Booth Level Officers made by the political parties, the DEO directed the concerned officers to provide copies thereof at the earliest.
