GCW Udhampur organizes poster making competition

UDHAMPUR, Dec 12: Promoting the critical message of reducing plastic usage and its environmental impact, as part of academic activity, Govt. College for Women successfully organized a poster-making competition on the theme “Say No to Plastic” by the HOD Prof. Pooja Bharti and Dr. Padma Sharma, Department of Environmental Sciences. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 13 talented students who showcased their creativity and awareness about the pressing environmental issue.
The college lecture hall buzzed with excitement as participants unveiled their thought-provoking posters, emphasizing the importance of sustainable alternatives to plastic.
The posters ranged from impactful slogans and striking visuals to artistic depictions of plastic pollution and its harmful effects on the planet.
The competition was graced by the presence of Principal Prof. Nalini Pathania, who joined midway and applauded the efforts of the students. She emphasized the significance of individual responsibility in combating the plastic crisis and commended the participants for their innovative expressions.
Judges Prof. Anita Sharma and Prof. Shama Rani evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall presentation.
While winners were honored with prizes, Principal Prof. Nalini Pathania highlighted the importance of participation, stating, “It’s not about winning or losing; every effort towards spreading awareness matters.” Alongside the esteemed Principal and competition judges, several faculty members also graced the event with their presence, adding to the supportive atmosphere.
The event concluded with the judges and principal distributing medals to the winners, leaving the students inspired to champion the cause of a plastic-free environment. GCW College continues to lead by example in fostering environmental consciousness and inspiring change.
Dr. Padma Sharma expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all present at the event, appreciating their contributions and participation, which made the poster-making competition on ‘Say No to Plastic’ a resounding success.
She extended special thanks to the Principal, judges, faculty members, and the enthusiastic students who supported the initiative wholeheartedly.
