GDC Thannamandi holds extension lecture

THANNAMANDI, Dec 12: Govt Degree College Thannamandi organized an extension lecture on "NEP 2020: Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Approaches" as part of Viksit Bharat @2047 Abhiyan in which Prof. (Dr.) Mohd Aslam Baba, former Nodal Principal of Kashmir Colleges and former Dean of Cluster University of Kashmir, was the resource person.
The program was organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of College whereas Dr. Asif Ajaz Lone, Head of the Department (HOD) of Physics, co-ordinated the programme.
In his comprehensive lecture, Prof. Baba eloquently explained the importance of integrating knowledge across various disciplines to create a holistic education system. He emphasized that NEP 2020 encourages critical thinking, innovation, and skill development by breaking traditional silos in education. The audience were particularly engaged as Prof. Baba shared practical insights on how institutions can implement these approaches effectively.
He also highlighted his recently published book, "History of Science Through Ages" that explores the evolution of science through different eras, blending historical narratives with scientific advancements. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, HOD of History, also spoke on the occasion, commending Prof. Baba for his valuable contributions to academia and the thought-provoking lecture.
The event was followed by an interactive session, wherein participants raised questions and shared their perspectives on implementing NEP 2020's objectives in educational institutions. Attendees left inspired by the discussions and motivated to embrace interdisciplinary learning in their academic endeavours.
Dr. Asif Lone conducted the proceedings of programme whereas Dr. Nazar ul Islam presented the formal vote of thanks. The program was attended by a diverse audience of students, faculty, and scholars, aimed to highlight the transformative vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its emphasis on fostering multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Naseem Ahmad, Dr. Ashaq Malik, Rakesh Puri, Prof Altaf Hussain, Dr Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Dr Goher Iqbal, Prof Fatima Parveen, Dr Junaid Ahmad, Dr. Shiraz Ahmad, Anuj Bali, Dr Athar Aziz Raina, Prof. Rumy Dar, Dr Nigina Kouser, Prof Rizwana Kosser, Dr Mohd Shakoor, Dr Mudasir, Dr Zubair, Dr Showkat and Dr Ashraq.
