KATRA, Dec 14: The School of Mechanical Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) inaugurated a six-day online AICTE ATAL Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Green Hydrogen Generation and Opportunities in India. The programme, sponsored by AICTE, attracted 215 participants from 21 states across the country. The FDP features 13 technical sessions led by 11 distinguished speakers from India and one international expert from the U.K. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sh. Saurabh Bhagat (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, J&K, who highlighted various government initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy sources. He emphasized the critical role of green hydrogen in achieving India’s goal of energy independence by 2047. Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, delivered the presidential address, underlining the importance of adopting sustainable energy practices globally. Prof. (Dr.) Balabir Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Yathesth Anand, Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering, also shared their insights on the topic. The programme coordinators, Prof. (Dr.) Eswaramoorthy Muthusamy and Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Assistant Professor at SoME, SMVDU, were commended for their efforts in organizing the event. During the sessions, speakers emphasized the significance of green hydrogen in strengthening India’s energy sector and applauded the participants for their engagement. The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajiv Kumar. This FDP serves as a pivotal step in capacity building for India’s renewable energy initiatives. |
