Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 14: Admitting to the party's underwhelming performance in the recently concluded Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday encouraged party workers to remain steadfast and not lose hope.
Addressing the party’s General Council meeting, Mufti acknowledged the challenges faced by the PDP but reiterated her commitment to its foundational ideology and agenda.
Speaking at the meeting, Mehbooba said, “The PDP is going through a crucial testing time after the Assembly elections, but this is not the moment to be disheartened. We must uphold the ideology that defines our party and continue to work towards achieving the goals set by our founder, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.”
Mehbooba reminded party workers of the legacy of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who founded the PDP in 1999 with a vision for peace, progress, and inclusivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Mufti Sahab’s tenure as Chief Minister may have lasted only three years and 10 months, but those years were historic,” she said. “Through his visionary and pro-people policies, he left an indelible mark on the politics and governance of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The PDP president emphasized that the party’s agenda remains rooted in the ideals of Mufti Sayeed, which focus on fostering peace and creating opportunities for the people of the region. “Our agenda is not just a political strategy but a commitment to the aspirations of the people of

Jammu and Kashmir,” she stressed.
Mehbooba called upon party workers to take the election results in stride and use the setback as an opportunity to regroup and refocus. “Testing times like these are moments of reflection and resilience,” she said. “We must learn from our experiences, rebuild our connections with the people, and not compromise on our principles.”
The PDP president urged workers to remain united and resilient, stressing that political setbacks are a part of democratic processes. “Every political movement has its ups and downs, and our commitment to the people will guide us through this phase,” she added.
Mufti also highlighted the need to stay focused on the party’s core ideals amidst the evolving political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. She urged workers to actively engage with the public, address their concerns, and communicate the PDP’s vision more effectively.
“Our responsibility is to work for the welfare of the people, no matter how challenging the circumstances,” Mehbooba said. “We owe it to them to continue Mufti Sahab’s mission of bringing hope, stability, and progress to Jammu and Kashmir.”
As the PDP navigates a challenging period, Mehbooba Mufti’s rallying call serves as a reminder of the party’s foundational values and its commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Urging her party to persevere, she remains hopeful that by staying true to its ideals, the PDP can emerge stronger and more connected to the people it aims to serve.
