Jammu, Dec 14: The ruling National Conference joined other constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in challenging the hegemony of the Congress in leading the opposition at the national level. In an interview with a news agency, Omar Abdullah called on the Congress party to justify its leadership within the INDIA bloc, amid rising dissatisfaction among partner parties. Abdullah emphasized that leadership must be earned and urged Congress to champion the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir. This will strengthen the alliance.” Meanwhile, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee called on Congress to put aside its ego and allow Mamata Banerjee to lead. “Congress needs to understand that under its leadership, the INDIA bloc has struggled.
