| Slathia interacts with officers, officials of CA&PD | | Spells out measures for streamlining PDS | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 05- Minister for CA&PD, Surjit Singh Slathia warned that any laxity and malpractice in Public Distribution System (PDS) would not be tolerated and those found involved in such acts would be dealt with severely. ‘The misgivings about the CA&PD department can only be removed by streamlining the PDS through honest and dedicated approach by the field functionaries’, he pointed out. The Minister also reviewed the stock and supply position of food grains, kerosene oil, sugar and fuels in all districts of the region. Interacting with the officers and officials of the CA&PD department, Jammu here today, Slathia said that it has been made mandatory for the functionaries of the department to ensure full dispatches of essentials to the targeted areas from Jammu and Udhampur go downs before 15th of every month, adding that there should be no diversion of dispatches in midway to other areas than the target ones. Spelling out the measures initiated for streamlining the PDS, Slathia said that the trucks carrying food grains of CA&PD would carry banners of PDS and that of the category APL, BPL or AAY to prevent seepage of PDS ration to open markets. He said that the ration gunny bags would also be labeled as APL, BPL or AAY to indicate the category for which the grains are meant for. This, he said, would facilitate in distribution of food grains to different CA&PD go downs and retail outlets. The Minister said that concerned District Level Officers, Tehsil Supply Officers, Storekeepers and other functionaries would receive the stocks after getting them weighed, so that shortage in the weight can be checked. He said that they have been asked to inform the Secretary CA&PD or the Minister himself about the arrival of stocks. He said that no District or Divisional Level Officer can leave the station without prior permission from the Minister. He said that local committees would be constituted to monitor the stock and supply position and to address the grievances of the consumers with regard to distribution of food grains, kerosene oil and sugar. He asked the concerned to maintain the account of essentials supplies and see that no diversion of ration from one category to another or to open market is made. Among others, the meeting was attended by Secretary CA&PD K.B.Jandial, Director CA&PD Jammu Himant Kumar Sharma, senior, district, tehsil level officers and lower field functionaries of the Department.
