| EC sets up Emergency Polling Stations along LOC in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 05: Amid intelligence inputs of heavily armed militants waiting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt Lok Sabha polls, Election Commision (EC) has put in place a contingency plan by setting up over 60 Emergency Polling Stations (EPS) along the Indo-Pak border in the state. "In view of apprehensions of infiltration, cross-border firing or any other threat from across the border, we have put in place a contingency plan to safeguard voters," Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) BR Sharma said. The emergency polling stations have been set up along the Line of Control (LOC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu Parliamentary constituency, which goes to polls during the first phase on April 16, Sharma said. As per intelligence reports, there are over 400 heavily armed militants staged in launching pads along Indo-Pak border to cross over to this side under the cover of Pakistani Army firing to trigger violence and disrupt polls in the state. "In case of any misadventure on LOC including Pak firing, rocket shelling, or grenade attacks to aid infiltration, the (original) polling stations will be shifted immediately at the eleventh hour," the EC official said. "We have decided not to take chances. If all goes well, the polling will be held in designated polling stations. If there is firing from Pakistan side, the polling booths will be immediately shifted to safer areas in the already identified places," Sharma said
