Police stops Congress massive protest March towards Raj Bhawan

JAMMU, Dec 18: Hundreds of Congress leaders and workers led by JKPCC Chief Shri Tariq Hameed Karra today took out a massive protest march towards Raj Bhawan raising slogans against Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks against Father of the Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, seeking his apology besides seeking arrest of Gautam Adani and criticizing Central Govt. for the alarming situation in Manipur apart from seeking restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
However strong contingent of police stopped the peaceful protestors at Danis Gate on Residency Road from proceeding ahead. After a brief insistence by the congress leaders with the police officers, the JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra advised the congress workers to agree to the request of the police authorities and to hold a peaceful sit in dharna on the Residency Road for some time.
As part of nationwide call of AICC, the protest march was taken out by the hundreds of congress workers under the leadership of JKPCC Chief accompanied by large number of Senior leaders and party office bearers, former ministers/Ex-Legislators and heads of Frontal Wings, District Presidents carrying play cards of their demands and raising strong slogans against the Centre Govt. especially Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks in the Parliament against Dr. Ambedkar and the failure to take action against Gautam Adani as well as to control the Manipur situation besides the failure to restore statehood to J&K.
Prominent among those who took part in the Protest March include Working Presidents Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, AICC Secretary Shah Nawaz Choudhary, Th. Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan, Indu Pawar, Yash Paul Kundal, Th. Hari Sing Chib, Rajnish Sharma, Naresh Gupta, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed-MLA, Ch. Sain Rashid, Dina Nath Bhagat, Mumtaj Khan, Bhushan Dogra, T.S. Tony, Shashi Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Namrata Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Balbir Singh, Amrit Bali, Sanjeev Sharma, Sheikh Mujeeb, Pravez Wani, Ashok Bhagat, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Akash Bharat, Ajay Lakhotra, Gurdarshan Singh, Madan Lal Dogra, Ch. Hussain Waffa, Rajinder Singh Nathu, Babal Gupta, K.D. Singh, Ashok Bhagat, Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Sahil Sharma, Kapil Singh, Rajiv Saraf, Ch. Jagdeep Singh, Jatin Raina, Ch. Dwarka, Vijay Shastri, Ashok Sharma, Shamsher Chand, Rajesh Sharma, Tamana Heer, Deepika Thusoo, Bimla Slathia, Nasir Masih, Ricky Dalotra, Narinder Khajuria, Sunil Thapa and others.
Speaking to the Media persons Karra said that the Home Minister Amit Shah should seek apology from the nation for insulting remarks against the Father of the Constitution Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He said that his utterances against Dr. Ambedkar reflect the mindset of the BJP towards the father of the constitution and has hurt the countrymen. He said that the Modi Govt. is trying to divert the attention of the nation to save Gautam Adani who has been booked in United States should be arrested immediately.
On the issue of restoration of statehood to J&K, JKPCC Chief Lashed out at the Centre Govt. for deliberate delay in granting the same despite promise on the floor of the Parliament before the Supreme Court and in the Public meetings. The people are watching the betrayal of the Modi Govt. on this issue and said that Congress will intensify its struggle in the days to come if full statehood is not granted in near future and asked the cadre to be ready for the same.
