Guru Ravidass opposed caste based discrimination, preached equality: Balbir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: Guru Ravidass Vishwa Mahapeeth National General Secretary & British Ravidassia Heritage Foundation Indian branch General Secretary, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that the followers of great saint Ravidass should uphold guru's vision of equality. The elders in the families should motivate young generations to read and adopt valuable teachings of the Gurus of their samaj. Balbir Ram Rattan said this while discussing life of Guru Ravidass with a group of members of Raviassia and saryara communities. Balbir Ram Rattan shared with them that Guru Ravidass was a revered 14th-century spiritual poet, and social reformer, who remains a beacon of equality and universal brotherhood for all the times. His teachings continue to inspire millions across the globe to work towards a more equitable and harmonious society. He further told them Guru Ravidass emerged as a revolutionary thinker during a time of deep social and caste-based divisions. Guru Ravidass opposed caste based discrimination and advocated for a world where all individuals, regardless of caste, creed, or social status, are treated with dignity and respect. His poetic verses too are filled with themes of oneness. Guru Ravidass had a vision of "Begampura" - a city without sorrow, where there is no discrimination, fear, or suffering. This ideal underscores his unwavering belief in the equality of all human beings and the necessity of eradicating social injustice. His universal message of equality has been a source of inspiration for social justice movements worldwide. |
