SKUAST-Jammu PhD Scholar Awarded Prestigious PM Fellowship | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: Abhishek T.S., a Ph.D. scholar from the Division of Entomology at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister Fellowship for Doctoral Research. This fellowship is a significant achievement that fosters collaboration between academia and industry, offering Ph.D. scholars dual exposure to both sectors through cutting-edge research. The Prime Minister's Fellowship, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, is jointly promoted by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). It connects global companies with India's top academic and research institutions to create a dynamic research ecosystem that nurtures young talent. The fellowship provides full-time Ph.D. scholars with a financial stipend significantly higher than standard research fellowships. The government contributes half of the scholarship amount, while the partner company provides the other half. Scholars under this fellowship are offered a monthly stipend of up to Rs. 42,000, including HRA for the Senior Research Fellow (SRF) category, and the fellowship duration is four years. Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, congratulated Abhishek and his advisor on this exceptional achievement. He highlighted the university's supportive environment, which helps students excel. "This is a moment of pride for SKUAST-Jammu," he stated. Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director of Research at SKUAST-Jammu, emphasized the importance of identifying industry partners for similar collaborations, ensuring an environment conducive to high-quality research. This award further underscores the commitment of SKUAST-Jammu to academic excellence and fostering industry-oriented research.
