MVD Kathua challaned 193 vehicles, realised fine amount of Rs 12,47,600

KATHUA, Dec 18: Motor Vehicle Department Kathua has claimed to have seized seven vehicles and challaned 193 vehicles and collecting twelve Lakhs fourty seven thousand and six hundred rupees penalties from during a checking drive.
According to the report, On the direction of Transport Commissioner, J&K Shri Vishesh Paul Mahajan and guidance Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO Jammu( additional charge) of Kathua, the Checking Team of RTO Kathua conducted checking on during the intervening night on Jammu Pathankot National Highway at Lakhanpur and different routes of the district.
During the course of checking, the team checked 530 vehicles were checked out of which 193 vehicles were challaned for different traffic violations. Besides, five buses, one maxicab and one load carrier and one three wheeler were also seized for plying vehicles without valid documents. The fine from e-challan amounts to Rs. 12,47,600/. While conducting checking, the drivers of vehicles were also made aware about various road safety measures to be taken for safe driving on road. The owners and drivers were advised to ply vehicles on road with valid documents and avoid overspeed and use of mobile phone while driving which often become cause of accidents on road.
ARTO Kathua Shammi Kumar also appealed to the people for bearing Crash Helmets and Seat Belts while driving two and four wheelers on the road. He also directed owners and drivers of private as well as commercial vehicles to avoid wrong parking on road especially in Kathua town and outside GMC Kathua which is causing inconvenience to the ambulances as well as other vehicles carrying patients.
He further requested all vehicle owners and drivers of vehicles to ply vehicles on road after obeying traffic rules in order to reduce road accidents and save precious human lives.
The checking team was headed by Shammi Kumar, ARTO Kathua alongwith MVISs Surinder Kumar, Jatinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar and SMVIs Neeraj Kumar, Rajan Verma, ASMVI S.K. Rana and MVTAS.
