Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 18: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a drug peddler with 8 kg of poppy straw during a routine naka checking operation at Balleni Pull, Sub Division Nagrota, on December 17, 2024. A police team from Nagrota Police Station intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK03H/2494 traveling from Udhampur towards Jammu. Upon inspection, the police recovered a yellow plastic bag containing 8 kg of poppy straw-like substance hidden between the driver and co-driver seats. The driver, identified as Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Sadiq Ali Khatana from Nandni Suketar, Tehsil Dansal, Jammu, and the co-driver, Mohd Danish, son of Kalia Khatana from Saryal Choha, Tehsil Majalta, Udhampur, were taken into custody. A case under FIR No. 326/2024 under sections 8/15/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station, and investigations are underway. The swift action by the police has been highly appreciated by the locals, who commended the authorities for their continued efforts to combat drug peddling in the region. |
