National Mathematics Day Celebrated at GDC Thannamandi

Thannamandi, Dec 21: The Department of Mathematics and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Government Degree College Thannamandi in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics of GDC Darhal celebrated National Mathematics Day as part of Viksit Bharat @2047 Abhiyan here today.
While joining the nation in paying tribute to mathematician genius Srinivasa Ramanujan on his 137th birth Anniversary, an impressive program under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal GDC Thannamandi and Prof. Zameer Ahmed Mirza, Principal GDC Darhal, organized on this occasion. Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Head, Department of Mathematics and Anuj Bali, Vice President IIC at GDC Thannamandi co-ordinated the event.
As part of the celebration, Dr. Ashaq Malik, IQAC Co-ordinator and Convenor IIC at GDC Thannamandi delivered an insightful and detailed talk on the life and unparallel contribution of Ramanujan, and underlined the importance of mathematics in shaping modern science and its applications in various fields. Dr. Akhlaq Malik, Head, Department of Mathematics at GDC Darhal, special guest on the occasion, shared his expertise and delivered an engaging talk on the subject. Prof. Anzar Ahmed from GDC Darhal and Dr. Mohd Arshaq of GDC Thannamandi also spoke on the occasion.
The program aimed to inspire students and faculty to delve deeper into the fascinating world of mathematics and to honor the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan, whose birthday is commemorated as National Mathematics Day.
Earlier, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina introduced the audience about the program and conducted the proceedings whereas Anuj Bali presented the formal vote of thanks.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of both institutions in paying tribute to the great mathematician - Ramanujan and making it a memorable occasion to celebrate the beauty and importance of Mathematics in our lives.
