| BJP leaders campaign for party nominee | | Lila Karan tours border districts, seek support from electorate | | Early Times Report Poonch, Apr 6- The state unit of the BJP today intensified its campaign for the party candidate from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency when its senior leaders fanned out in different areas to seek votes for Lila Karan Sharma. Intensifying his campaign, the BJP candidate Lila Karan Sharma, while addressing series of election meetings at Manjakot, Mendhar and Poonch, charged the Congress, NC and PDP of throttling political reservation for Gujjars, Bakerwals, Gaddis and Sippis in assembly and legislative council. He said that it was all due to the initiative and constant pressure mounted by Atal Behari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani at national level that the Central government brought Schedule Tribe category for Gujjar-Bakerwal and others. He further said that all the three Kashmir centric parties have never bothered for the plight of this down trodden classes and only exploited them for political gains. He promised that he will strive for political reservation for Gujjar and Paharis. Sharma charged sitting Congress MP for ignoring Rajouri and Poonch districts in the matters of development and promised that if NDA government is voted to power at the Centre, he will bring a special package for the development and employment for these twin districts. Others who addressed these meetings included Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vibodh Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Sunil Gupta and Ilyas Khan. Meanwhile, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta MLA Jammu West addressed election rallies at Lakkar Mandi and Janipur. These rallies were also addressed by JMC Mayor and senior leader Kavinder Gupta, Surinder Sharma and Arvind Sharma. BJP State President Ashok Khajuria addressed a corner meeting at Krishna Nagar, Jammu while State General Secrerary Shamsher Singh Manhas, along with State Secretary Satwant Kour, addressed meeting at Samba. All these senior leaders sought public support in favour of party candidate Lila Karan Sharma.
