Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Dec 25: National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said the best way of celebrating festivals like Christmas is to uphold the justice, pursue the path of righteousness and to spread positivity in the society.
Speaking at an event, organised by Ankur Narula Ministries (ANM) at Broadway Plaza here to celebrate Christmas, Mr Ajay Sadhotra said the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ holds more relevance in the present day word when moral and ethical challenges overshadow righteousness.
Every religion teaches love and compassion which is the cornerstone of healthy society based on equality and human dignity, he added.
"To eschew the tendencies of hatred and intolerance, let us imbibe the spirit of togetherness and camaraderie to make this world a better place to live in", Sadhotra said, adding that positive attitude and love for fellow beings holds key for harmonious growth of the society.
Referring to the teachings of Jesus Christ, Sadhotra said these continue to inspire and guide humanity with their timeless wisdom.
One of His profound teachings emphasizes, "You are the salt of the earth" , he said , adding that this analogy carries deep significance, reminding us to embody purity, integrity, and purpose in our lives. Salt is a symbol of purity and preservation. Just as salt enhances flavor and preserves food from decay, Jesus calls upon individuals to lead lives of moral uprightness and spiritual vitality. To "be like salt" is to maintain purity in thoughts, words, and actions, ensuring that our presence uplifts and enriches the world around us, he elaborated.
Sadhotra said while reflecting on this powerful teaching, each one should strive to embrace the qualities of salt-purity, humility, and service. Sharing each other's joys and pains make us good humans, he maintained.
Extending Christmas greetings, Sadhotra expressed happiness over joining of the cross section of people in the celebrations, Sadhotra said this is in consonance with Jammu and Kashmir's rich composite culture, which is a shining example of coexistence, where communities celebrate each other's festivals with warmth and mutual respect, imbibing a spirit of togetherness. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have upheld the timeless tradition of participating in each other's joyous occasions, whether it be Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Gurpurab, Navroz, or Baisakhi. This practice is deeply rooted in the ethos of the region, reflecting its unique blend of traditions, languages, and religions that thrive in harmony.
"The composite culture of Jammu and Kashmir is not just a historical legacy but a living reality", Sadhotra added.
The event was marked by cutting off cake by Sadhotra, who was chief guest at the festival.
Rajan Saberwal, President ANM Church Udhampur also spoke on the occasion and greeted the people on Christmas.
Prominent among those present were MLA Ramban Arjun Singh Raju, Mohd Ayoub Malik Provincial Secretary, Sunil Verma, District President Udhampur, Ram Parshotam District President Udhampur Urban, Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu, Raghubir Singh Manhas, District President Jammu Rural, Ranbir Singh Chib.
