Grand Urdu Mushaira held at College of Education, Jammu
Arsh, Aasi, Jafri, Nazar, Shabnam, Imam receive applause

JAMMU, APRIL 06 As a part of Cultural and literary activities, the Department of Urdu, College of Education, Jammu and Shirdee College of Education, Bishnah, organized an Urdu Mushaira in the conference hall of the College, here today.
Renowned Urdu poets from within and outside the state participated in the Mushaira and recited their poetic versus, that mesmerized the audience mostly the young students of both the colleges and created excitement in the jam packed hall.
The Mushaira was presided over by eminent poet and writer Arsh Sabai, while as Prof. Safdar Imam, Prof. Mohinder Lal Parvana and Gulzar Ahmad Shabnam were the guests of honour and Dr. Nikhat Nazar conducted the proceedings of the Mushaira.
Dr. Nazar while welcoming the participants said that the Urdu Department of College of Education has constituted Bazm-e-Urdu for promotion of Urdu language and literature in the state. She said that veteran and eminent Urdu knowing luminaries, poets and writers have been nominated as the members of the Bazm, besides some students of the Urdu Department have also sought membership. The Bazm would be conducting literary meets and mushairas to provide a platform to the young student poets, writers and the dignified literary personalities for promotion of Urdu language, she added.
Sajad Poonchi, Dr. Liaqat Jafri, Amin Banhali, Dr. Premi Romani, Khursheed Kazmi, Dr. Nikhat Nazar, Prof. Safdar Imam, Arsh Sabai, Vidya Ratan Aasi, Jaleel Ahmed, Varun Kumar, Prof. Mohinder Lal Parvana and Gulzar Ahmad Shabnam took part in the Mushaira and invited applause from the audience.
Thanking the participating poets and the audience, the Principal of College of Education, Jammu, Prof. Mohinder Lal Parvana said that Urdu is rich language and a better medium for teaching and learning, besides giving vent to the passions of the poets and writers for penning down literary pieces. He said that this language demands all out and collective efforts for its promotion and propagation.
Director, Shirdee College of Education, Bishnah, Mrs. Shalini Gandotra was also present on the occasion. She offered every help to the College of Education, Jammu for holding literary and cultural activities and encouraging young poets and writers.
Earlier, the Department of Urdu, College of Education, Jammu organized a guest lecture on ‘Teachers Education’ in which Prof. Safdar Imam Head of the Urdu Department, College of Commerce, Patna delivered an extensive lecture on the subject. He elaborated various valuable suggestions for Teachers Education to make the teaching learning process comprehensive and interesting.
