| Ordnance Corps completing 234th year today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 7: The Army Ordnance Corps will be celebrating 234 years of its existence on 08 Apr 2009. In his message to the Army Ordnance Corps, on the eve of this occasion Lt Gen PC Bhardwaj, PVSM, AVSM, VrC, SC, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief extended his greetings to all ranks, civilians and families. The Army Ordnance Corps is entrusted with the task of managing a large, complex inventory and providing logistic support to the field Army across a wide spectrum of conflict situations. This daunting task calls for dedication, high degree of professionalism and flexibility in keeping with the changes in concepts of war. The Corps has a record of outstanding contribution in all operations and has proved its mettle both in war and peace. In the Northern Command, the Army Ordnance Corps is carrying out its assigned task of providing ordnance logistic support to the equipment intensive army and effectively ensuring that the field formations are fully equipped to rise to any call of duty. Contribution of Army Ordnance Corps in diverse conditions and varied terrain during Operations VIJAY and PARAKRAM and in the Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism environment has been widely acknowledged.
