Mission Director reviews progress of Agricultural projects

JAMMU, Dec 28: Rahul Yadav, Mission Director of HADP/JKCIP, conducted an extensive tour of the RS Pura subdivision to evaluate the progress of agricultural initiatives under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP). He was accompanied by Director Agriculture Jammu, Arvinder Singh Reen, Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, Shri Vinod Kumar Kundal, and other officials.
The tour began with an inspection of a Controlled Conditioned Cropping Unit in RS Pura under HADP Project No. 10, focusing on mushroom cultivation. Yadav assessed the unit's functionality and its role in enhancing regional mushroom farming.
Yadav also visited two Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKG) at RS Pura and Village Gondla under HADP Project No. 20, which focuses on innovative agricultural extension approaches. He reviewed their operations and impact on farmers' welfare.
At the Mini Soil Testing Lab in Village Laswara, under HADP Project No. 19, Yadav examined the lab's contribution to soil health management. He emphasized the importance of providing farmers with accurate soil data for improved productivity.
In Village Arnia, Yadav interacted with progressive farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs). Discussions centered on challenges faced by FPOs and strategies to enhance their efficiency and sustainability.
The Mission Director inspected the Hi-Tech Polyhouse of progressive farmer Mahesh Choudhary in Village Gazzian, where he introduced the concept of Agro-Tourism to integrate farming with tourism. He also visited Choudhary's farm to observe innovative farming practices and SM Farm Kotli to review ongoing projects.
The tour concluded at the Potato Seed Village in Village Arnia, where Shri Yadav inspected initiatives aimed at improving seed potato production to boost the local agricultural economy.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Shri Yadav reiterated the government's commitment to supporting farmers through innovative practices, agricultural extension services, and infrastructure development, ensuring sustainable growth in the sector.
