Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 29: The Morning Walkers Association, Lohar-Manda Hilltop, Jammu, kicked off the celebrations for the New Year 2025 and bid farewell to 2024 with a joyous event at the Lohar-Manda Hilltop. The program, held at 7:30 a.m., was graced by Sh. Vijay Kumar, Wildlife Warden, as the Chief Guest. It saw the participation of both senior citizens and youth members of the association, all of whom joined in the celebrations with energetic dancing and festivities.
During the event, Sh. Rakesh Sharma, General Secretary of the Association, emphasized the health benefits of morning walks, quoting the proverb, "Early to bed, early to rise." Sh. Sham Lal Dogra, Senior Member of the Association, highlighted the Lohar-Manda Hilltop track as a gift to the citizens of Jammu, offering a pollution-free environment for morning and evening walks, as well as a peaceful space for yoga.
Sh. Vijay Kumar, Wildlife Warden, spoke about the importance of protecting wildlife and trees in the sanctuary, particularly the medicinal and jungle fruit plants. He also urged participants to keep the sanctuary clean by using dustbins placed along the track.
Following the celebration, participants enjoyed a joint breakfast to mark the occasion. Sh. Bansi Lal Choudhary, President of the Association, shared his personal experience of walking on the track for over 55 years, attributing his good health and absence of medication to regular morning walks. He encouraged the youth of Jammu to adopt morning walks in the coming year.
The event was supported by several key members of the association, including Sham Lal Sharma, Dev Rattan Gupta, Romesh Kr. Gupta, A.K. Kapoor, Puran Singh Wazir, and others. The association continues to promote health and well-being through community-driven initiatives and encourages more residents of Jammu to take advantage of the scenic and safe Lohar-Manda Hilltop track.
