| Haji Nissar visits Drass block | | | Srinagar, September 22 –Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali today conducted an extensive tour of Drass block and visited Matayen, Pandrass, Mushko, Holiyal, Muradh Bagh, Goshan and Biaras villages to assess problems of people. He was accompanied by executive Councilor Rural Development Haji Mohammad Ishaq, Sub District magistrate Drass Mr. Khadim Hussain Munshi and various district officers. The Minister took stock of the pace of progress on various developmental schemes taken in hand in Drass block during current financial year. He stressed upon the Executive Agencies to speed up the pace of work keeping in view the short working season of the area. The Minister also sought people’s cooperation in executing the developmental works so as to complete them within the time frame. Various deputations met the Minister and putforth their demands for early redressal. He assured them that all possible steps would be taken to mitigate trheir genuine demands. During his 2-day extensive tour of Drass block which commenced from yesterday, the Minister inaugurated two irrigation schemes completed at Kaksar and Lakthang at a cost of Rs 1.09 crore and Rs 73 lakh respectively. With the completion of these irrigation schemes, a new command area of 529 acres could be developed which will benefit 5200 souls of these areas. At Drass, the Minister distributed an amount of Rs 3 lakh as old age pension among 160 beneficiaries under integrated social security scheme. On the occasion, the Minister said that in J&K Rs 50 crore are annually provided as old age pension and the number of beneficiaries is 1,73,000 souls. The Minister stressed upon Social Welfare Officers to identify new cases if any and submit to higher authority for grant of sanction. |
