CME program on anesthesia and critical care services held

JAMMU, Jan 4: The Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA) Jammu City Branch, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program focused on the current scenario of anesthesia and critical care services in Jammu.
The CME, which attracted around 150 participants from various hospitals and medical colleges in Jammu, commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony and the felicitation of distinguished guests, including Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, Dr. Anita Vig, Professor and Head of Anesthesiology, GMC Jammu, and several notable figures from the medical community.
Dr. Ashwani Kumar, President of ISA Jammu, delivered the welcome address, followed by the introduction of the newly elected ISA Jammu body by Dr. Gurmeet Singh Reen, Election Officer, ISA Jammu.
The CME featured two in-depth panel discussions. The first focused on the current challenges and strategies to improve safety standards in anesthesia services, moderated by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and Dr. Laughi Bhan, with panelists including Dr. Satya Dev Gupta, Dr. Gurmeet Singh Reen, Dr. Nandita Mehta, and Dr. Ravinder Gupta. The second discussion centered on improving critical care services in Jammu Province, moderated by Dr. Renu Wakhloo and Dr. Kunal Sharma, with input from experts like Dr. Anita Vig, Dr. Madan Lal Katoch, Dr. Sunana Gupta, Dr. Vanilla Chopra, and Dr. Rohit Gupta.
Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, in his address, stressed the importance of increasing critical care beds and decentralizing critical care services to enhance healthcare outcomes across Jammu.
The CME program successfully created a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among healthcare professionals, aiming to advance anesthesia and critical care services in the region.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sucheta Hans, Joint Secretary, and Dr. Updesh Kumar, General Secretary of ISA Jammu.
