PM Modi’s connectivity vision
1/6/2025 9:47:06 PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of connectivity-driven development finds a poignant expression in the ongoing railway revolution, reaffirming that the path to national unity is built on the tracks of inclusivity and progress.
The integration of Kashmir with the rest of the country has long been a dream envisioned by statesmen and cherished by the people of the region.
The inauguration of the Jammu Railway Division by Prime Minister Narendra Modi marks a transformative step toward realizing this vision, symbolizing connectivity, inclusivity, and national unity.
This move not only enhances the infrastructural capabilities of Jammu and Kashmir but also embodies the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.
The Jammu Railway Division, carved out of the Northern Railway Zone, is a testament to the country’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth in its northernmost region. It will oversee operations in Jammu, Udhampur, Katra, and the upcoming railway sections in the Kashmir Valley.
A centerpiece of this ambitious connectivity drive is the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, set to link Kashmir seamlessly with the rest of the country. This engineering marvel traverses some of the most rugged terrains in the Himalayas, featuring iconic structures such as the Chenab Bridge— and highest cable connected Anji Khad bridge both in Reasi District.
Prime Minister Modi, while inaugurating the Jammu Railway Division, underscored the transformative power of connectivity. His emphasis on integrating “unlinked areas” reflects a forward-thinking approach to national development. Railways are not just a mode of transport; they are engines of economic growth, job creation, and social mobility.
For the people of Jammu and Kashmir, this development promises new opportunities, from enhanced market access for local products to increased tourist inflow, boosting the regional economy.
The establishment of the Jammu Railway Division and the ongoing railway projects also hold geopolitical significance. Connectivity is a strategic imperative in a region that has witnessed decades of conflict and isolation.
By bringing Kashmir closer to the heart of India, the government sends a powerful message of inclusion and integration. The improved transport network will also strengthen national security, enabling faster movement of resources and personnel.
The integration of Kashmir with the Indian railway network is not just a story of engineering feats or administrative reforms—it is a narrative of hope, resilience, and unity. As trains begin to traverse the picturesque valleys of Kashmir, they will carry not just passengers but also aspirations, linking a historically isolated region with the pulse of a vibrant nation.
With the Jammu Railway Division serving as a catalyst, this is a journey toward a more connected, prosperous, and harmonious India.
