JALANDHAR, Jan 7: On the auspicious occasion of the 358th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized a remarkable pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, Pakistan. This initiative aimed to honor the teachings of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji while strengthening cultural and spiritual connections with Punjab's rich heritage.
Leading this profound journey were Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, along with Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU. Their leadership underscored the importance of this pilgrimage, which included the participation of 150 staff members. Fully sponsored by LPU as part of its staff welfare initiative, the pilgrimage provided a spiritually enriching experience that emphasized the core values of equality, courage, and selfless service upheld by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Dr. Mittal remarked, "This pilgrimage aimed to connect our staff with spiritual wisdom and the rich heritage of Punjab, even beyond the border. At LPU, we emphasize holistic development, where personal values and professional growth go hand in hand."
The pilgrimage commenced from the LPU campus and featured visits to significant historical sites within the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib complex. Participants explored landmarks such as the holy well where Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji drew water during his time in Kartarpur. The experience was further enriched by partaking in the langar, which embodies the essence of selfless service. The group also explored the local market near the Langar Hall, immersing themselves in the cultural and historical significance of the sacred site. The warmth and friendliness extended by the local community left a lasting impression on the participants.
The Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 9, 2019, during the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, facilitates visa-free access for Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit this historic site. Kartarpur Sahib holds immense significance as the place where Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the final years of his life, reinforcing the deep spiritual connections that bind the Sikh community across borders.
