| DEO convenes meeting with political parties at Reasi | | | Early Times report
REASI, APRIL 8, 2009:- To ensure strict compliance of the Model Code of Conduct during the election campaign by various political parties, the District Election Officer (DEO), Reasi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties at Reasi last evening.
The Assistant Returning Officers of all three Assembly segments of the Reasi district which include Gulabgarh, Reasi and Gool - Arnas were also present on the occasion. The meeting exhorted upon all the political parties to ensure free, fair and peaceful election and fully cooperate with the administration with regard to enforcement of Model Code of Conduct.
During the meeting, the District Election Officer stressed upon the political representatives to be fully aware about the rules and regulations of the Model Code of Conduct as prescribed by the Election Commission of India. He asked the political representatives to submit their expenditure statements in the office of DEO within the stipulated time frame. The representatives were also asked to obtain necessary permission and permits for plying of vehicles during the election campaign and the vehicles plying without the requisite permits shall be seized. The meeting asked the political parties not to resort to defacement of public property besides use of loud speakers and any type of disturbance near educational institutions, hospitals, temples and mosques should be avoided.
The representatives of political parties also gave valuable suggestions for holding the elections in free, fair and peaceful atmosphere.
All political parties assured full cooperation to the administration for holding of free, fair and peaceful election.
