| Pahari Forum demands separate LS seat for Poonch-Rajouri | | | EarlY Times Report
Jammu, Apr 8- The activists of Pahari Speaking People Forum today staged protest in the University of Jammu demanding, separate Lok Sabha seat for Pahari speaking people of twin border districts of Rajouri –Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir.
A large number of students belonging to Rajouri-Poonch gathered in Jammu University campus and urged the state government to grant special reservation status for the Pahari speaking people of Rajouri-Poonch districts.
The protesters alleged that Pahari speaking people have been discriminated in every sphere of life including in government jobs. They said reservation is necessary keeping in view the backwardness of the community.
“If other community can enjoy reservation for their upliftment, why you are ignored”, questioned a protesting student Muzaffar Hussain.
Hussain added “We belong to the neglected community of the region and even leaders of our area are not representing us.”
