| Border residents living in adverse conditions: BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 8- The 60 years of independence have been virtually meaningless for the people of border villages as they were forced to live with adversities, alleged Chaman Lal Kanathia, vice-president BJP SC Morcha who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly election from Chamb Khour constituency. Kanathia, who recently concluded his tour of border villages of Jammu province along with Mangal Singh Manhas, vice president, District Jammu Rural and Narayan Sharma, vice-president Block Chamb blamed ruling NC and Congress of ignoring these people of border district. He termed it as betray with the people of border area as they have all the time voted in favour of these two parties but the MLAs and MPs elected from these districts have never bothered for economic well being of the area. Commenting on twin district of Rajouri-Poonch, he said that these two districts are mostly worst in terms of development in all sectors as people are forced to live without the basic amenities like roads, electricity, proper ration facilities etc. Moreover, backward in education and rise in employment particularly in these twin districts stings the people of Rajouri-Poonch The BJP had had deputed a team of three leaders to visit the border villages and during their visit they were apprised with the problems faced by the people due to the negligent attitude of the successive state governments. He, however, said that the villagers whose land had come under fencing on International Border have not still got adequate compensation from the government and even they were not accommodated after uprooting from stress prone areas. He alleged misuse of government funds on the work of anti-erosion project on River Chenab at Akhnoor. The BJP leader appealed to the people of Jammu province to vote in favour of BJP candidate and bring NDA government in power at the centre to bring overall development in Jammu province.
