Swami Vivekananda medical mission celebrates 162nd Birth Anniversary

Jammu, Jan 12: On the momentous occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s 162nd birth anniversary and 55th Foundation Day of Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital, Amphalla Jammu ,a grand function was held in the premises of the hospital on 12 Jan 2025. Established on January 12, 1970, the hospital has remained steadfast in its commitment in providing affordable and high-quality healthcare services to the community. Guided by the philosophy of ‘Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa’—service to humanity is service to divinity—the institution continues to uphold its founding ideals of compassion, inclusivity, and selfless service.
The celebrations commence with a Hawan Ceremony, invoking divine blessings for the hospital’s continued growth and success. Dignitaries and members of the hospital’s governing body actively participated in the event, President Sh. Anil Gupta, Senior Vice President Sh. Amar Chand Gupta, Vice President Sh. Atma Saroup Gupta, General Secretary Sh. B.B. Gupta, Secretary Sh. B.S. Jamwal, Treasurer Sh. Mohan Singh Chouhan, Members -Sh. Shanker Dutt Sharma, Sh. Subhash Gupta (Retired Judge), Sh.S.L Suri ,Sh.Neeraj Puri, Dr. Brij Mohan Gupta , Sh. Dharamvir Chopra ,Sh. Surinder Mohan Gupta, Dr. Sachin Gupta. Besides Dr. Romesh Gupta Administrator, S.Iqbal Deep Singh Manager , Pawan Sharma and Doctors, paramedical staff, non-paramedical staff were also present to assist in making the event successful. A special highlight of the day was a free eye camp organized at the hospital to benefit the poor and needy patients. The camp is being held under the supervision of the eminent Eye surgeons, Dr. Suruchi Gupta and Dr. Pallvi Sharma.
Reflecting on the hospital’s journey, Sh. Anil Gupta, President of the Governing Body, emphasized the institution’s overarching mission to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all.
He stated that “For 55 years, this hospital has been a sanctuary of hope and healing, embodying Swami Vivekananda’s vision of upliftment through service.
Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Charitable Hospital is a multidisciplinary institution dedicated to holistic healthcare. The hospital offers a wide range of medical services, advanced diagnostics, surgical interventions, and outpatient care, ensuring affordability without compromising quality. MRI and CT scan centre have also been operating with rates comparable to those of government hospitals in Jammu Province. This makes advanced diagnostic services more accessible to the public.
This Foundation Day served as an opportunity to honor the hospital’s remarkable legacy, celebrate its milestones, and reaffirm its unwavering commitment to serving humanity.
The hospital’s vision for the future remains firmly focused on bridging healthcare disparities and providing equitable access to medical services for all. On this occasion, a Langar Parsad was also organized.
