Address safety concerns in Mazdoor Basti on priority: MLA Arvind urges JMC Commissioner
1/12/2025 9:22:09 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan12 : Highlighting the urgent safety concerns of over 200 households in Mazdoor Basti, Ward No. 13, Resham Ghar, senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta, today conducted an inspection of the deteriorating Nallah in the locality. The Nallah, which has been in a poor state for over 40 years, poses an imminent threat of collapse, especially during the monsoon season.
During the visit, residents apprised the MLA of the crumbling state of the Nallah, which poses a major hazard during the monsoons, and urged a swift resolution. They highlighted the potential risks posed by the 40-year-old deteriorating structure, which serves as a critical water channel for over 200 households in the area.
Arvind Gupta personally inspected the dilapidated condition of the Nallah running through the locality, which is on the brink of collapse. He expressed concern that the condition of the Nallah has been ignored for decades, endangering the lives and properties of residents. He urged the JMC Commissioner to prioritize the reconstruction of the Nallah to avert a potential disaster. “The lives and properties of hundreds of families are at risk due to the prolonged neglect of this vital structure. The JMC Commissioner must initiate immediate action for its reconstruction,” he said.
Reassuring the residents of Mazdoor Basti, Arvind Gupta assured them that the reconstruction of the Nallah would be prioritized and taken up with the relevant authorities without delay. “No stone will be left unturned to safeguard the lives of the people in Mazdoor Basti. I will ensure that the necessary funds and resources are allocated to complete this project at the earliest,” he added. Arvind Gupta reiterated the BJP’s commitment to ensuring safe and sustainable infrastructure for all citizens. He assured that he would personally monitor the progress of this critical project and ensure its timely completion. He also called upon the JMC authorities to adopt a proactive approach to addressing such long-standing issues across the constituency.
