J&K Fencers Shine at 19th Cadet National Fencing Championship

UTTARAKHAND, Jan 13: Fencers from Jammu and Kashmir delivered an impressive performance at the 19th Cadet (U-17) National Fencing Championship 2024-25, held from January 8 to 11, 2025, in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.
In the individual category, Ms. Subhanaya Sharma clinched a bronze medal in the Sabre event. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot to represent India at the Junior and Cadet Asian Fencing Championship scheduled in Kuwait next month.
In the team category, the Girls' Sabre Team comprising Subhanaya Sharma, Bhavya Jamwal, Eknoor Kour, and Amadhya Vermani showcased remarkable skill and determination, securing a bronze medal for J&K.
The team competed under the banner of the J&K Fencing Association (JKFA) and was cleared by the Screening Committee of the J&K Sports Council. The fencers were accompanied by coaches Mr. Maninder Pal Singh, Mr. Adarsh Slathia, and Mr. Rahul Sharma, with Smt. Surjeet Kour serving as the team manager.
Mr. Vijay Kumar, President of the J&K Fencing Association, along with senior coaches Ms. Rachna Jamwal and Mr. Shotu Lal Sharma, and Adv. Supriya Chouhan, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the talented fencers for their outstanding achievements.
This remarkable performance highlights the growing talent in J&K's fencing community and sets the stage for further success on the international platform.
