Z-Morh tunnel to prove as game changer for tourism: Kavinder
1/13/2025 10:09:15 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta hailed operationalization of the Z-Morh Tunnel as a monumental step that will revolutionize the region's tourism sector and further strengthen its economic development.
Speaking on the sidelines at a function held at Party Headquarters in Jammu, the BJP stalwart leader described the Z-Morh Tunnel as a 'game changer' for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the tunnel will not only improve connectivity but will also serve as a catalyst for the growth of the tourism industry, which has always been one of the region's primary economic drivers.
"The Z-Morh Tunnel, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is yet another invaluable gift for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. With enhanced access to the picturesque areas of Sonamarg and beyond, tourists will now be able to travel seamlessly even in harsh winter conditions, which was previously a significant challenge due to snow and road blockages," Kavinder said while highlighting that this bounty by PM Modi for the people of J&K is so meaningful that even the chief minister Omar Abdullah has to shower praises on him despite being one of the strongest critics of the head of the country. He said that opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and others should also admit that what PM Modi has accomplished in J&K is unmatched and incredible as the changes which the region witnessed during the BJP regime were phenomenal and extraordinary.
He further highlighted that the tunnel will reduce travel time drastically, bringing Srinagar and Ladakh closer, while also ensuring year-round access to the stunning landscapes of Sonamarg. This, he said, would attract both domestic and international tourists to the region, boosting the hospitality, local businesses, and related sectors.
"The Z-Morh Tunnel is a part of a larger vision to transform J&K into a world-class tourist destination, providing modern infrastructure and facilitating easy and safe access to remote and scenic areas. It is a testament to the Prime Minister's commitment to the development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir," he said, adding that besides enhancing tourism prospects, this initiative is also strategically important for bolstering defence.
