Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Jan 14: The 9th Armed Forces Veterans' Day was observed with great enthusiasm and reverence at Artillery Brigade Tanda, Akhnoor, under the Northern Command. This day, celebrated annually on January 14, marks the retirement of Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, in 1953. The tradition began in 2016 to honor the invaluable contributions of Ex-Servicemen.
The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan, and other senior military and civil officials.
A major highlight of the celebration was a captivating dance performance by the students of Army Public School Rakhmuthi. Their presentation creatively showcased key initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Digital India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Defence Minister was so impressed by the performance that he invited the students back on stage for a group photograph, marking a proud moment for the school's principal, teachers, and students.
The event concluded with the playing of the National Anthem, embodying the spirit of unity, patriotism, and gratitude toward the Armed Forces.
