Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has welcomed the linking of Kashmir with other parts of the country through rail route and has demanded connectivity rail facility and running of DMU trains between Jammu-Katra-Srinagar.
During a program organized at the party's state intermediate office, Shiv Sena UBT state chief Manish Sahni, while reacting to the decision of the railway department not to send trains directly from Delhi to Kashmir due to security reasons, said that rail passengers going to Kashmir from Delhi and other states should be provided connectivity from Jammu railway station and DMU services should be started between Jammu-Katra-Srinagar.
So that tourists get a chance to enjoy the religious and tourist places of Jammu along with Kashmir and the economy of entire Jammu and Kashmir is strengthened. Sahni said that Jammu has already suffered due to the restoration of rail service to Katra in the year 2014. The hotel and taxi business of Jammu has almost come to a standstill. There is a fear of it being completely ruined due to the start of direct rail service to Kashmir.
Sahni has demanded from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to provide connective rail facility from Jammu Railway Station to the passengers going to Kashmir from Delhi and other states and to run DEMU trains every two-three hours between Jammu-Katra-Srinagar.
Sahni has appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and BJP MPs who won from Jammu division to raise their voice on the above demands keeping in mind the interests of Jammu.
