Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Er. Gulam Ali Khatana chaired a comprehensive review meeting at BSNL Bhawan, Rail Head Complex, Bahu Plaza, Jammu, to evaluate the telecom services provided by BSNL in the Jammu region.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for supporting indigenous 4G telecom equipment, Er. Khatana highlighted the government's commitment to improving BSNL services. He stressed the importance of expanding BSNL's reach in both rural and urban areas, ensuring service quality on par with private telecom service providers (TSPs). He urged BSNL officials to adopt a customer-centric approach to regain consumer trust and improve revenue figures.
During the meeting, the MP raised concerns about poor call quality in some areas of Jammu Province and emphasized the need for better brand visibility and increased tower deployment to enhance customer satisfaction.
Shri Mumtaz Ahmed, Principal General Manager, Business Area Jammu, presented a detailed report on the services provided across all ten districts. He informed attendees about the 4G Saturation Project aimed at connecting uncovered villages and the rollout of FTTH and Air Fiber services to meet Digital India Mission goals. Additionally, plans to extend high-speed internet connectivity to block headquarters and Gram Panchayats under Phase-3 were discussed.
While acknowledging BSNL's efforts to enhance data services in both wired and wireless segments, Er. Khatana expressed optimism that these initiatives would yield results in the next financial year.
Prominent BSNL officials present at the meeting included Shri Nand Kishore, Shri Rajesh Khanna, Shri Rakesh Sharma, Shri Rajesh Sharma, Shri Pran Nath Raina, Shri Vijay Kumar Sharma, and Shri A.K. Maurya.
