BLSKS organize workshop on “Duggar Folk Culture”

JAMMU, Jan 15: To promote the rich traditional culture of J&K & Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized workshop on Duggar Folk Culture in its 476th Wednesday Series Music Play " SAADA DUGGAR VIRSA" at open air theatre , Durga Bhawan Janipur Jammu in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, New Delhi under the Financial Assistance for Promotion of Guru-Shishya Parampara (Repertory grant). The programe was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Tara Singh Charak , Former Deputy Director ,J&K Health Department, Mukesh Singh , Renowned Media Person J&K were the Guest of Honor. Sh. Ram Ditta, Bishwa Nath, M.C.Kotwal, K.K.Joshi,Kalo Devi, participated as folk theatre experts of various forms of J&K. Sh. K.K.Joshi informed that he will be conducts work shop on Duggar culture in History song and dances etc. first of its kind to preserve the rich culture of J& K State and also said BLSKS staging such plays in all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama which are still very powerful medium of communication.. Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest lauding the role of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan-(NGO) and underlined the importance of staging such plays and workshops in all parts of the state to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. Sh. Dr.Tara Singh Charak , Former Deputy Director ,J&K Health Department, also speak on the subject and also urged the artists/cultural organizations to contribute in enriching awareness of the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to follow the footprints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the Nation. Jammu, the land of the Dogras also called as Duggar is rich in it's heritage in terms of it's unique culture comprising of the various components from the time immemorial. the Duggar is not only world famous for the matchless bravery, boldness and valour of it's people but also for it's historical and uninterrupted cultural flow exposed in the firm of the folklores, rituals, customs, lifestyle, folk arts, folk dances and folk -literature transmitted orally from one generation to the next. all these represent the glimpses of the enrichment of the Duggar culture, civilization and it's ethnic identity. Leaders of Various Folk groups participated during workshop and five experts of folk theater given tips on Folk Theatre. The program was also recorded & uploaded online on Social Media for benefit of the peoples.
Welcoming the dignitaries Dr.M.L.Dogra ,Chairman, BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme which have been assigned to the Sansthan for betterment of society in his key note address highlighted the various aspects of play and also said , "Folk Literature is the literature whose writer is unknown and which is passed on from generation to generation through oral traditions. Its style is free from artificiality and ostentation. It does not contain any element of communalism or religious discrimination. Its purpose is just to entertain the common masses who, in general, are simple, uneducated and live an unostentatious life. In short, folk literature is produced by the folks, for the folks and in the language of the folks. The folk literature of Duggar is ever changing. It is quite rich containing songs, folk tales, idioms, ballads etc. Thus, it presents itself in immense variety. It is related closely to life and for every occasion, from birth to death of an individual, there are folk songs and other varieties of folk literature. It is fully representative of the life of Dogra's & the music was assisted by music teacher Sh.Raju Bajgal. During the Financial year 2023-2024, BLSKS presented more than 200 Programs & covered more than 10 Dist. of Jammu province and more than 4 Lakh People witnessed the programs/play and highly appreciated by the audience.
The singers, musician and actors who performed were K K Joshi , Raju Bajgal, Chahat Chadha, Sanjeev Kumar , Sudesh Devi, Renu Bala , Naiya Digra . This workshop coordinator Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
