CUJ, ISRO Centre launch eleventh radiosonde for atmospheric data collection

JAMMU, Jan 16: The Eleventh Radiosonde was successfully launched today under the MOU between National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC, ISRO) and Central University of Jammu from the Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Science, CUJ under the able guidance of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
Prof. Vinay Kumar, Convener Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Science and Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, Head Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering along with his dedicated Faculty, Technical team, Students, Scholars and Staff successfully culminated the launch.
Weather Balloon along with the PisharotySonde (Radiosonde) will measure atmospheric profiles of Temperature and Relative humidity, pressure, wind speed, direction, altitude, time and location by using Sensors and GPS receiver module. The software used is developed under ISRO called Indian Radiosonde Software (IndRoS).
This Radiosonde Ground Station is indigenously developed in the Semi conductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali, a make in India product under the Director General Dr. Kamaljeet Singh and Nemi Chand.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Sanjeev Yadav, Dr. Pravesh Pal, Faculty Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, CUJ along with his team Dr. Haneet Kour (Research Associate, Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, CUJ),
Mehak Mahajan (Senior Technical Assistant, Central Instrumentation Facility, CUJ), Ayesha Bandhari, Bandhna Verma, Muskaan, Vikas Dhiman (Scholars), Sanatan, Amrit.
B Bineesh, Aaryan, Prajjwal, Yashvardhan, Nityanand, Rajvir, Anubhav and team.
The data collected from Radiosonde will contribute in the field of meteorological studies related to the Climate change, atmospheric studies and Space research, under the National Information System for Climate and Environment Studies (NICES) RANN (Radiosonde Network for NICES) Project with National Remote Sensing Centre in collaboration with Dr. Hareef Baba Shaeb K, Scientist, Atmospheric Sciences Division, Earth and Climate Science Area, NRSC, Government of India, Department of Space (ISRO), Hyderabad.
