| NSUI celebrates foundation day with SOS children | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 9- The National Students Union of India (NSUI) celebrated its foundation day with the children of SOS Home Channi Rama Jammu here today. MLA Gandhi Nagar Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Ravinder Sharma MLC was the guest of honour. AK Arora President SOS Home presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, the state President NSUI Rashid Choudhary said that April 9 has historic importance for student politics as National Students Union of India was established in India on this day in 1971. He said there would have no other better place to celebrate this day with the SOS Children. He said in near future NSUI will take care of these children and will make efforts to highlight and solve the problems faced by the children. Mintu Kumari, Nancy and Zubair Ahmed students of the school who excelled in Academics and got distinctions in 8th and 10th classes respectively were also awarded by NSUI. The NSUI activists also distributed stationery items, fruits and sweets among the children to celebrate the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion Ravinder Sharma said that NSUI is the only largest and secular student’s organization which is working for the upliftment of the students community and ultimately for the nation. Raman Bhalla in his speech appreciated the step of NSUI to celebrate the occasion at SOS home and said that the main motto of Indira Gandhi to establish this organization was to highlight the students cause in real sense and I can say that today NSUI is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its aim. A.K. Aurora President SOS home welcomed the step of NSUI and highlighted the problems being faced by the children. S.N. Sharma Secretary SOS Home also spoke on the occasion.
