IIIM, GGM Science college celebrate National startup day

Jammu, Jan 17: The Department of Biotechnology, GGM Science College, in collaboration with CSIR-IIIM Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Jammu, celebrated National Startup Day with a special program aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and skill development among students.
The event, inaugurated by Prof. Kiran Bala, Head of the Biotechnology Department, welcomed an enthusiastic audience of students and faculty members. Prof. Bala thanked Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College, and Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, for their support in organizing the event.
Dr. Gupta, in his address, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in empowering students with entrepreneurial skills, while Dr. Ahmed highlighted the transformative role of startups in shaping India’s future.
Key sessions included an engaging talk by Dr. Shahid Jibran, CEO, AIC CSIR-IIIM (Br.), Srinagar, on “Fostering a Culture of Entrepreneurship: Challenges and Opportunities,” and a presentation by Dr. Vidushi Abrol, Business Manager, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, on the institute’s role in entrepreneurship and skill development in J&K.
Dr. Saurabh Saran, Principal Investigator, IIIM-TBI, praised the efforts of the speakers and reiterated the institute’s commitment to supporting young innovators in J&K.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students engaged with experts, seeking guidance for their entrepreneurial ventures. Dr. Neha Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Biotechnology, delivered the vote of thanks, while Prof. Gourav Gupta conducted the proceedings.
The celebration also marks the beginning of awareness programs by IIIM-TBI at other colleges in the Jammu region over the next two days.
