JMC organizes interactive session on Social Internship program

Jammu, Jan 17: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized an interactive session under the Social Internship Program of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Urban 2.0 at Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu. The event witnessed the active participation of students, aiming to empower the youth as ambassadors of cleanliness and sustainable practices.
The session was graced by the presence of Mr. Devansh Yadav, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, along with Sh. Abdul Satar, Joint Commissioner (Health and Sanitation), JMC, and Dr. Divya Sharma, Incharge IEC (Information, Education, and Communication), JMC. Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Devansh Yadav highlighted the Social Internship Program as a unique initiative designed to actively engage students in fostering sustainable awareness and behavioral change in promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation. He emphasized the pivotal role of students in adopting and spreading sustainable sanitation practices within their communities. Mr. Yadav further informed the gathering about various upcoming JMC projects, including biogas plants and community-driven initiatives, offering students field visit opportunities and hands-on experiences. He urged schools to integrate such programs into their curriculum, making youth the driving force behind achieving SBM Urban 2.0’s objectives.
Sh. Abdul Satar shared insights into JMC’s health and sanitation initiatives and reiterated the corporation’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner and greener Jammu. He commended the students for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue inspiring their peers and communities to adopt eco-friendly practices.
The event featured a creative skit and a PowerPoint presentation by the student interns, showcasing their activities and learnings under the Social Internship Program. Their performances highlighted the importance of cleanliness, waste management, and community involvement in achieving the goals of SBM 2.0.
