| Taj Mohi-ud-Din inaugurates environmental film fest | | | SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22 – “The beauty of Kashmir which has entitled it as Paradise on earth require swift and immediate collective action to protect it from environmental deterioration, forest degradation, squeezing of lakes and rivers, vanishing of precious bio-species and hydro treasure and turning of pastures and meadows into deserts”, was unanimously expressed by galaxy of intellectuals, film makers, academicians, writers and prominent personalities with national and international repute, while speaking on inaugural function of 2-day grand and impressive international Environment and Wildlife Film Festival. The event was organized by Kashmir cms Vatavaran 2006 New Delhi in collaboration with Global Green Peace – Kashmir in association with other media fraternity of the valley here today a t SKICC. Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din who was the chief guest inaugurated the festival. Addressing the festival the Minister said that it is the sacred duty of all environmentalists to strive and make people aware about the preservation of nature and save the future generation from the disaster caused by the environmental degradation. He said that media has a great role to play educating the people about the need for preservation of natural resources. Quoting the verse of Sheikh-ul-Alam (An Posh teli yel wan posh) “Food is subservient to forests” Mr. Taj said that we should take inspiration from the great sufi saint and learn to do self introspection to contribute in preserving flora and fauna of the state. |
