Crackdown on illegal mining: Jammu police seizes 12 vehicles

JAMMU, Jan 18: In a significant drive against illegal mining, Jammu Police has intensified its operations to curb the unlawful extraction of natural resources in the South Zone of District Jammu. Demonstrating their commitment to safeguarding public property, law enforcement agencies have seized 12 vehicles involved in illegal mining activities.
The operations, conducted across multiple locations, were spearheaded by different police units:
Police Station (PS) Satwari: Under the leadership of Inspector Jai Paul Singh, officers detained eight dumpers loaded with sand. These vehicles were found engaged in illegal mining operations.
Police Post (PP) Belicharana: Led by PSI Rajesh Singh, the team confiscated two dumpers.
Police Posts Nehru Market and Greater Kailash: Each seized one truck carrying sand and bajri without proper documentation.
In total, 10 vehicles were seized under the jurisdiction of PS Satwari, with one vehicle each being confiscated in the areas under PS Gandhinagar and Gangyal.
Following the seizures, the concerned District Mining Officer was informed to initiate the necessary legal proceedings against the violators.
Jammu Police reiterated their unwavering resolve to tackle the menace of illegal mining and emphasized their dedication to protecting public resources from exploitation. These efforts aim to deter unlawful activities and uphold environmental sustainability in the region.
