37 bottles of illicit liquor seized; bootlegger arrested

UDHAMPUR, Jan 18: The District Police of Udhampur achieved success in curbing illegal liquor trade by arresting a bootlegger and seizing a significant quantity of illicit liquor during routine patrolling.
A police team from Police Station (PS) Rehambal, led by its SHO, apprehended a suspicious individual identified as Rohit Sharma, son of Rattan Lal and a resident of Garhi. The arrest occurred at the Garhi-Chopra Shop market when the suspect attempted to flee upon noticing the police team.
During the frisking and subsequent search, the police recovered 37 quarters of JK Special Whisky (250 ml each), which the individual had concealed in his possession. The accused was immediately arrested on the spot.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Rehambal, and further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the illegal trade.
The District Police reaffirmed their commitment to curbing illicit activities and ensuring public safety by taking strict action against offenders.
