Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 19: Natrang Theatre Group presented the Hindi play 'Sarkari Afsar' in its popular Sunday Theatre series at the Studio Theatre, Kachi Chawni, Jammu. Written by Laxmikant Vaishnav and directed by Neeraj Kant, the play offered a satirical glimpse into the functioning of a typical government office, exposing its flaws with humor and wit. The narrative unfolded in a government office setting where employees, secure in their jobs, neglected punctuality and twisted rules for personal convenience. Themes such as red-tapeism, nepotism, corruption, absenteeism, and sycophancy were depicted in a relatable and genuine manner.
A stubborn peon, who wielded power through the secrets he held about others, and a minister's fearless relative highlighted the stark contrasts in office dynamics. Even the Head of Department shirked responsibilities for personal leisure. However, a surprise raid by a vigilance officer momentarily threatened the system's laxity-only to be revealed as a dream, leaving the cycle of inefficiency intact.
The young cast, including Mihir Gujral, Aryan Sharma, Kartik Kumar, Adaksh Bagal, and Lalita Sharma, delivered stellar performances. The play's lighting was managed by Neeraj Kant, with music composed by Kananpreet Kaur. Natrang continues to engage audiences with thought-provoking performances, reflecting societal realities with artistic finesse.
