Sadhotra slams BJP for neglecting remote areas; promises inclusive development under Omar Abdullah
1/19/2025 10:37:58 PM
Early Times Report
CHENANI, Jan 19: Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary of the National Conference (NC) and former minister, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its alleged neglect of remote and hilly areas in Jammu and Kashmir over the past decade. Addressing a public meeting at Chenani, organized by District President Naresh Anthal and Ram Parshotam, Sadhotra highlighted issues including developmental stagnation, rising unemployment, and the collapse of essential services in far-flung regions.
Sadhotra expressed concern over the lack of developmental focus on marginalized regions, which has resulted in poor infrastructure, limited basic amenities, and escalating hardships. "The BJP has ignored the pressing needs of people in remote areas, leaving them to face significant challenges without adequate support," he said.
He pointed to an alarming rise in unemployment among educated youth, skilled professionals, and unskilled workers, attributing it to the BJP's failure to implement effective employability measures. Additionally, the lack of basic services, such as power, water, and healthcare, has worsened the plight of residents in these areas.
Sadhotra assured that under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, the National Conference would prioritize equitable growth and comprehensive development. "Our government will address the failures of the BJP and ensure fast-track development, modernized infrastructure, and improved essential services across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir," he affirmed.
The National Conference's governance model, Sadhotra said, would focus on bridging the urban-rural divide, creating job opportunities, and fostering entrepreneurship through skill development initiatives and transparent recruitment processes.
MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju, urged people to rally behind the National Conference, emphasizing the party's commitment to restoring progress and prosperity in the region. "The time has come for change. The National Conference is dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and building a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir," Raju said.
Several notable individuals, including Mehboob Qazi (Retd Tehsildar), Gh Hassan (Retd ZEO), and others, joined the National Conference during the event. Sadhotra welcomed the new members, stating that their inclusion would further strengthen the party's mission under the leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
Prominent attendees included Sunil Verma (District President, Udhampur), Chander Mohan Sharma (District President, Jammu), Raghubir Singh Manhas (District President, Jammu Rural-A), and others. The gathering reaffirmed the National Conference's commitment to equitable governance and inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir.
