GGDC Vijaypur organizes poetry recitation under R-Day celebrations

JAMMU, Jan 20: Department od Dogri of GDC Vijaypur in collaboration with Department of Hindi organised a poetry recitation activity to commemorate 'Republic Day 2025'. The aim of organizing poetry recitation was to aware students regarding the importance of gaining independence, freedom and constitution of our country. Republic Day is celebrated as a national holiday in India commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India, and the country's transition to a republic which came into effect on 26 January 1950.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) delivering an insightful speech, sharing valuable thoughts on Republic Day with the participants. Participating students through their patriotic poems shedded light on how the constitution came into effect in 1950 after gaining independence in 1947. Proceedings of the event were also carried out by Dr. Manoj Heer.
Whole of the event was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College. While speaking on the occasion, she congratulated the organizing team for organizing such an event whereas she stressed upon the importance of celebrating such days. She further articulated that with the 1950 constitution, the country was officially known as the Republic of India - a "sovereign socialist secular democratic republic" that "secures all its citizens justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity," according to its preamble.
Whole of the event was organized with the full support of the senior faculty members like Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology) Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Science), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO and HOD English) and Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri). The event was co-coordinated by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer Education), Prof. Sonia Devi (Lecturer Hindi), Dr. Nain Singh (Lecturer Hindi) and Dr. Indu Koul (Lecturer English).
