Vimarsh’s ton guides Law Deptt to big win

JAMMU, April 09: Winning their respective matches, Law School and Department of Law today moved to the next round of ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu on the campus here today.
In the first match, Law School registered a 49 runs victory over Department of Political Sciences. Batting first, Law School set a target of 164 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Political Sciences could not chase the total and bowled out for 114 runs in 18.1 overs.
Shashi played superb innings of 51 (off 46 balls, 1x6, 7x4) while Sami made 45-ball 45 runs studded with four hits to the fence. Manveer and Sahil contributed 21 and 20 runs respectively. From Political Sciences, Ajay Kumar, Ajay and Farooq shared one wicket each.
Batting second, Political Sciences lost all their wickets in 18.1 overs for 114 runs. Farooq and Paramjeet were top scorer with 25 and 24 runs respectively. Nawaz and Govind contributed 16 and 15 runs respectively.
The second match of the day was won by Department of Law, who trounced Department of Economics by 151 runs thereby making it a one-sided contest.
Batting first the star-studded side of Law set a big target of 246 runs for three in 20 overs. Vimarsh Kaw hit a magnificent century making 101 runs off mere 54 deliveries including 17 boundaries. Amit Baloria and Rohit Pal Sharma played equally good innings of 57 and 50 runs respectively. From Economics Department, Jagat clinched two wickets and Shagun one.
Later, chasing a daunting task, Economics Department could make only 97 runs in given 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Shakti was top scorer with 29 runs while Mubarsh Ahmed and Jagat Dev contributed 19 and 18 runs respectively. Lovejeet Singh, Varuneshwar and Varinder Singh Chib took one wicket each.
